TAMPA, FL –The exclusive Seminole Casinos Mega Bad Beat Jackpot hit twice in a four-day span in April at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa, for $235,052 and $114,396. The hits brought the total in 2011 there to six consecutive times, totaling $1,819,432.

The last time it didn’t hit in Tampa was November 2010, when the Seminole Casinos Mega Bad Beat Jackpot was won at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood.

A bad beat jackpot occurs when a seemingly unbeatable hand of at least four 10s loses to an even better hand. Once it’s won, the jackpot immediately resets at $100,000; something done only at Seminole casinos in Florida.

On Saturday, April 9, Carmen D. won $117,522 with his “losing” hand a straight flush 2 to 6, beaten by Salvatore C., who took home $70,514 with a straight flush 5 to 9. The eight other players at the table won $5,877 each.

Then on Tuesday, April 12, Jovan Foster won $57,197 with the losing hand of four-of-a-kind kings, beaten by Barry Barganier, who won $34,319 with a royal flush. The eight other players at the table won $2,860 each.

This latest jackpot awarded at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa was its 18th overall and by far the most of any of the Seminole properties.  To date, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa has awarded $4,519,814 (nearly 70 percent) of the total Mega Bad Beat Jackpots.

The Seminole Casinos approach to larger, more frequent bad beat jackpots has now paid players a total of $6,728,717 in 29 jackpots since it began in December 2009.

The Seminole Casinos’ approach to larger, more frequent bad beat jackpots is funded by a $1 contribution from each pot of $10 or greater at the poker rooms in six Seminole casinos: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Casino Brighton, and Seminole Casino Hollywood.   Fifty percent of the Seminole Mega Bad Beat prize pool is awarded to the qualifying losing hand; 30 percent to the qualifying winning; and 20 percent divided among the remaining players.

On January 8, 2011, the State of Florida bad beat jackpot record was set at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa when $584,864 was hit.
