IMAGINE There’s No Hunger

 

Acting Locally and Thinking Globally, Seminole Hard Hotel & Casino, Tampa

Joins Yoko Ono Lennon and the WhyHunger Hard Rock International Initiative

 

TAMPA, Fla. – Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa (SHRHC) will collect food for the local Metropolitan Ministries this holiday season as part of a Hard Rock International partnership initiative with the New York-based WhyHunger organization. SHRHC will also raise money through the sales of limited-edition John Lennon Imagine There’s No Hunger signature items.

 

 “We hope to raise thousands of dollars during the holidays from the community by selling collectible Hard Rock pins and t-shirts,” said Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino president, John Fontana. “Our Seminole Hard Rock Girls will also deliver $5,000 in food to the Clear Channel Helping Hand Food Drive at Westshore Plaza on Nov. 19th”.

 

Beginning on Nov. 1, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will donate through its Seminole Hard Rock Retail Store special limited-edition John Lennon IMAGINE signature and likeness items in support of the two-month fundraising campaign, including the new IMAGINE There’s No Hunger pins, as well as an artist spotlight t-shirt which will be sold at the Hard Rock Retail Store inside the casino.

Additionally, the employees of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino announced that they will hold their own food drive for Tampa’s Metropolitan Ministries and volunteer at the Ministries’ Holiday Tent at 2002 North Florida Avenue during the holiday season. Metropolitan Ministries was founded in 1972 by 13 downtown Tampa churches and offers a wide spectrum of supportive services for the poor. 

 

The hotel and casino will also collect non-perishable food items from the public for the holidays in designated bins that will be conveniently located in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel lobby.

 

WhyHunger, a non-profit international organization founded in 1975 by radio show talk host Bill Ayres and the late singer-songwriter, Harry Chapin to fight hunger and poverty, is partnering with Yoko Ono Lennon and Hard Rock International in the 2010 campaign, “Imagine There’s No Hunger” to benefit hungry children through the public’s purchase of “Imagine” bracelets.
